Rustic Simplicity in the Hallway

wikipedia.org ; chest (also called coffer or kist) is one of the oldest forms of furniture. It is typically a rectangular structure with four walls and a liftable lid, for storage. The interior space may be subdivided. The early uses of an Antique chest or coffer included storage of fine cloth, weapons, foods and valuable items.

Simple light spaces showcase dark oak furniture.
Antique treasure chests look fabulous against a white, chalk painted wall.

Coffers provide practical storage and the perfect height to position under a mirror.
Love this antique coffer .....well travelled, possibly from Persia,
adds an element of curiosity in a room.

I haven't seen a bleached raw wood coffer before....love it! Low level coffers are my favourite, perfect for sitting on in a hall. We have a 17th century coffer at home.
The design simplicity of this period works well in today's interior.
